Versions

ProteusDS

Professional

The professional version of ProteusDS has access to all models and features. The licence is perpetual, and includes support, upgrades and maintenance for one year.

Light

The light version licence allows users to design and test simple oceanographic or ‘single point’ sub-surface or surface moorings using the ProteusDS dynamic solver. The moorings may be tested in a range of wave and current conditions to ensure system performance. ProteusDS makes use of the same interface and solution engine as the professional version of ProteusDS but at a fraction of the cost. Only the features of ProteusDS required to design simple oceanographic-type single leg moorings are enabled in this version.

Academic

Licences of ProteusDS are available to academic researchers and students for use on noncommercial projects. Interested applicants should visit and complete forms on the ProteusDS academic license reqest page. DSA will follow up with further information about the terms of the academic licence.

Developer

ProteusDS can be coupled and integrated in almost any software framework using the ProteusDS Application Programmer Interface (API). Customization of the API for particular applications is possible. Licensing terms and costs vary depending on the application.

Project

ProteusDS is frequently used in-house by DSA for consulting projects. For these consulting projects ProteusDS is often customized and validated by DSA to provide timely and tailored solutions for its clients. ProteusDS has a modular software framework that makes it straightforward and economical to add new models or modify existing ones for specific projects. However, until now DSA’s consulting clients have had to rely on DSA to update model parameters and re-run scenarios. The project version of ProteusDS changes this and ensures that DSA’s clients do not have to rely on DSA to update parameters or re-run scenarios. In addition, project version of ProteusDS ensures that clients will have the security of possessing software and models they invested in by partnering with DSA.

ProteusDS can be purchased to perform simulations on a specific project. Instead of purchasing a licence for the full version of ProteusDS, which may contain unnecessary features or require excess training, a project specific version of ProteusDS can be purchased providing just what a client needs to complete a one-off project. This licensing arrangement is economical and flexible. For example, DSA’s consulting clients do not have to become fully trained in using ProteusDS to develop the complex initialization files that may be required for their project, but they can still run simulations and analyze results using DSA’s post-processing tools. Time and money is saved by avoiding the training cycle for a new software package but the benefits of licensing an advanced tool like ProteusDS are still realizes.
